High definition vision starts with healthy eyes. While picking one of our great frame styles is a lot of fun, the most important reason for your visit is to be certain that your eyes are healthy. Good eye health starts young. We love seeing kids, and their examinations are tailored to rule out problems that affect the way vision develops in young children. I recommend eye examinations at 6 months, 2 years and just before school. Then every two years is sufficient if there are no problems. Good vision early in life helps to ensure high definition vision for a lifetime.
For adults, the examination begins with an automated refraction and corneal topography to measure the front surface shape and focusing power of your eyes. We use a visual field screener called an FDT, short for frequency doubling technology. This test is highly sensitive for early visual field loss from glaucoma and other diseases. Glaucoma is a disease that begins to happen more often in middle age. As your eyes begin to change I recommend annual eye examinations to maintain high definition vision, even at near. The examination also includes testing to identify early cataracts and retina diseases such as macular degeneration that can affect vision.
Our eye examinations are designed to make sure that you are an “HD viewer”, able to see and appreciate the incredible detail of your world.
