Predictability and Risk

The LASIK procedure has evolved into a highly predictable and safe technique that greatly improves vision for most patients.

While serious problems can occur, the incidence is approximately one in a million. The three most common symptoms after LASIK are halos around lights, increased dryness and a qualitative sense that your vision is not quite right. As many as 30 percent of patients may have one or all of these symptoms immediately following their procedure. However, at six months only 1-2 percent continue to experience these issues.

The incidence of minor complications, particularly halos and qualitative concerns, are minimized by the new Wave Front technique and eye-tracking devices that aid in properly centering the laser treatment.
